How to Implement LEAN in Healthcare

This hands-on, three-day course provides instruction on how to enhance care, improve service, decrease costs - and most importantly, place the patient at the center utilizing the AveraOpEx 15-Step LEAN Deployment Model. It is designed for those tasked with implementing process improvements who are either just getting started or looking for the system and tools to successfully implement LEAN. The course focuses on practical healthcare implementations with examples throughout.

After taking this class attendees should be able to:

• Identify the 7 types of waste in both process flows and people's activity
• Complete Value Stream Maps (VSM) of the process
• Understand when to apply the lean principles to eliminate the identified waste including Standard Work, One-Piece Flow, Balanced Distribution of Work, Takt Time, Visual Management Controls including 5S, Mistake Proofing and more…
• Replicate simple yet powerful simulations at your facility to help teach the LEAN principles and build buy-in
• Be able to use the Catena® Picture Perfecting Process Improvement System to identify waste and capture improvement ideas for implementation
